Trading Cards

Collecting trading cards has been a popular hobby for generations. Though typically associated with organized sports such as baseball, there are many other activities to which such cards have been applied. Movies, books, and even games have all been popular subjects over the decades.

Trading cards first became popular during the early 20th century and were largely centered on baseball. The earliest known baseball cards were essentially nothing more than homemade strips of cotton material on which player stats and information were written. Later they were sold as "prizes" within packs of tobacco and chewing gum.

While trading cards are still sold today, vintage cards are the most actively sought by collectors. The value of a card is determined by many different factors, including the condition of the card and the player whom it represents. Some cards can be worth thousands of dollars, depending on their condition.
